SPRING HARBOR-SAFE HARBOR PROJECT
The neighborhood received a grant from the City of Madison to conduct a survey of the neighborhood to gather input on activities, events, programs and services that might better meet the needs of residents, address crime issues, and help build a stronger community.
The survey has been conducted and the results were reviewed at a public meeting in November 2012. An action plan on how to develop a safer, more viable neighborhood that engages all residents in the Spring Harbor neighborhood and the larger community was developed at the meeting.
The action plan was presented to the SHNA Board at its December 2012 meeting for review and feedback. For more information about the action plan, contact your area director.

Doors and Windows
- All doors locked are at night and every time leave the house--even if it's just for a few minutes
- Doors are solid hardwood and metal-clad
- Glass panels in or near doors are reinforced in some way so that they cannot be shattered
- All entryways have a working, keyed entry lock and sturdy deadbolt lock installed into frame of door
- Do not leave key under door mat or planter, on a ledge, or in the mailbox
- Secure windows even when open only a few inches for ventilation
- Lock door leading from attached garage to house
- Insert dowel or pin in sliding glass track
- Don't rely solely on automatic garage door to provide security
